Longings for the Moon

Longings for the Moon allows Chicago dance legend Ruth Page to tell her own story. Award-winning Chicago actress Lisa Dodson gives her remarkable voice to Ms. Page through poignant, humorous and provocative readings from Page’s books, letter and diaries. Remarkable archival footage from as early as 1920 allows us to see Ruth Page dancing in an era where modern dance was literally being born. As years pass, we see her life unfold before our eyes, as she heralds in new eras of artistic expression and reveals herself to be light years ahead of the social movements that would celebrate the voices of women.
