Broadway Comes Home
Two-time Tony Award nominee Kate Baldwin knocked our socks off with her stunning performance in our PBS Arts Fall Festival First You Dream, and then she did it again in our show Studio Sessions. But who are we kidding? Whether it’s in Broadway shows like Hello Dolly or Finian’s Rainbow, cabaret concerts across the country or series on Disney Plus, Kate Baldwin knocks your socks off every time she takes the stage or appears on screen.
But then COVID hit. All the stages Kate could appear on were dark and there weren’t any live shows for HMS to bring to the screen. Seeing her favorite theater in her hometown of Milwaukee withering in the face of the pandemic, Kate called us up and asked what we might create to raise some money for them.
Thus was born the Emmy-nominated Broadway Comes Home, essentially Broadway meets “Finding Your Roots” meets “Unplugged.” Kate returns to Milwaukee, takes viewers to the places where her dreams of being on the world’s greatest stages began, introduces them to the people who shaped her early dreams and sing the songs that help tell her story in a special concert created just for this show.
Broadway Comes Home will make you fall in love with Kate, see her hometown in a new way and quite possibly help you see your city as a place where anything is possible.
