Allegiance

Star Trek’s George Takei stars and co-produced the stirring original musical Allegiance, which was based on his own childhood experiences, when he and his family were held by the American government in Japanese internment camps during World War II.

It was an important story, lovingly brought to life by George and his collaborators and performed with heartfelt sincerity by the brilliant Telly Leungand legendary Lea Salonga. HMS was humbled and honored to get the call from Sing Out Louise Productions to provide the video crew for an ambitious capture during its Broadway run.

Thanks to international cinema distribution via Fathom Events, audiences around the world were able to experience how Allegiance explores a very recent part of American history that many Americans would prefer to (and often do) forget.

It reminds us of the power of theater to connect audiences with our history and inspire us to do better in the future, and the power of stage-to-screen captures to unite viewers across the globe.
