You never forget the first time you fall in love, whether it’s with the arts, or sports, or a person. I still vividly remember my first love, Tina Walters. Sure, we were both only five years old, but it was a love of the ages (or age, anyway; I have no idea what happened to her after my family moved when we were six). I can recall in incredible detail the night of June 22, 1972, when my parents took my sister and me to see the Reds play the Astros at Riverfront Stadium, the night my dad taught me to keep score on the inside-out popcorn box, and the night I got hooked on baseball for life even though the Reds lost 9-5.
